Yamanba-mino-umiushi finally has a scientific name (Eubranchus putnami)
A common animal in Japan that had been sitting around nameless — yamanba-mino-umiushi — now has a scientific name:
Eubranchus putnami Fernández-Simón & Moles, 2023

Described from the Maldives, so whether the Japanese animal is actually conspecific needs DNA confirmation. If they really are the same species, the Japanese populations might be an introduction.
It's placed in Eubranchus, but on DNA the wider group is clearly in Eubranchidae but does not necessarily fit Eubranchus sensu stricto. This is a clade that will probably get carved up considerably in the future.
