Description

A small species reaching about 8–10 mm in length. The body is pale with fine brown speckling. The cerata are inflated and bear rounded tubercles arranged in two rings, with a bright yellow-orange subapical band and a pink to purple band just below it. The rhinophores carry three to five evenly spaced ring-like ridges, which give the genus its name Annulorhina.

Distribution

Originally described from intertidal rocks at Mandapam, Gulf of Mannar, south-eastern India. Subsequently recorded from the Indian Ocean and the Indo-West Pacific.

Etymology

Named after the type locality, Mandapam in southern India.

Remarks

Erected as the type species of Annulorhina by K. P. Rao in 1968. The genus was long subsumed within Eubranchus, but was reinstated by Korshunova et al. 2025 based on molecular phylogeny and morphology. Some authors have considered this species conspecific with Eubranchus rubropunctatus Edmunds, 1969.
