Description
A small aeolid nudibranch reaching about 15 mm in length. The body is translucent and the digestive gland (orange to brownish) shows through the wall of each ceras. The cerata are short and stout, arranged in a small number of rows. The rhinophores and oral tentacles are smooth and tapered.Distribution
Originally described from the port of Genoa, Italy, in the north-western Mediterranean. Subsequently recorded from the western Mediterranean, the Atlantic coast of France, and the southern and south-western coasts of the British Isles.Etymology
The specific epithet doriae is presumed to honour the Italian naturalist Marquis Giacomo Doria.Remarks
Feeds on hydroid colonies. The species is the type species of the genus Capellinia.References
