Description

Body 7–8 mm long, elongate, narrowing posteriorly. The dorsum bears a series of longitudinal ridges. The oral veil extends forward with blunt extensions at the corners. Widely spaced rhinophores sit behind the oral veil with longitudinal lamellae on the rounded club; the stalk does not narrow noticeably.
Ground colour of the dorsum and foot is opaque white. The depressions between the dorsal ridges are light grey. There are dark-centred ocellated spots on the dorsum surrounded by pink pigment. Rhinophore stalks are white and the clubs are black. The oral veil is opaque white with a light grey border.

Distribution

Known only from Okinawa, Japan (type locality: Tengan Pier, Ishikawa City, Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 13 m).

Etymology

Verbatim from the original description (Gosliner & Fahey, 2011, p.319):
The specific name oculus is from the Latin word meaning 'eye' or 'bud' referring to the evenly spaced oscillated spots on the dorsum.
(The paper prints "oscillated"; the intended meaning is "ocellated".)
