Clione okhotensis T. Yamazaki & Kumahara, 2017
Description
A tiny sea angel reaching about 8 mm in body length. The body is barrel-shaped, with the head tentacles set so close together that there is almost no gap between them and the mouth. The wings (parapodia) are small. There are three pairs of short, stubby oral cones. Three ciliary bands encircle the body — one near the front, one across the middle, and one near the posterior end.Distribution
Originally described from material taken in the southern Sea of Okhotsk.Etymology
The specific epithet okhotensis refers to the Sea of Okhotsk, the type locality.Remarks
A pelagic plankton-feeder belonging to the family Clionidae (shell-less pteropods, sea angels).References
