Description

A minute cephalaspid only a few millimetres in shell length. The shell is ovate and resembles a grain of rice, with a smooth, glossy surface. The shell ground colour is milky white to pale brown, and the body extends beyond the shell when the animal is crawling.

Distribution

Type locality: Hirado, former Hizen Province, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The species occurs commonly on shallow sandy-mud bottoms along the coasts of Japan.

Remarks

The Japanese vernacular "Kometsubu-gai" (literally "rice-grain shell") refers to the shape of the shell.
