Description

A side-gilled slug usually deep purplish-brown in colour. Light-brown, near-black "maroon" and even pink individuals have also been observed. The mantle is covered with rounded or sharply pointed papillae; the pointed ones can become quite large.

Distribution

Originally described from southern Australian coastal waters.

Etymology

The specific epithet hilli honours James Peter Hill (1873–1954), a biologist at the University of Sydney whose donation of nudibranch material to the Australian Museum led to the original description of the species.
