Genus Siphopteron 24 species
Siphopteron Gosliner, 1989 is a genus of small cephalaspideans in the family Gastropteridae, with about 20 species distributed mainly across Indo-West Pacific coral reefs. Body length 3–7 mm. The genus is characterised by a chimney-like siphonal projection at the rear of the cephalic shield, an elongate flagellar process from the posterior visceral mass, and broad wing-like parapodia that allow active swimming in some species. Type species: Siphopteron tigrinum Gosliner, 1989. Most species display striking patterns of yellow, red, orange, blue and black.
