Description

A small sacoglossan in the genus Cyerce, bearing numerous leaf-like cerata arranged along both sides of the dorsum. The cerata margins are ruffled into the characteristic foliose form of the genus. Detailed body and ceratal colour will be added once life-photo material is matched against the original figures.

Distribution

Type locality is the Marshall Islands. The species was recognised within the broad Pacific and Indian Ocean revision of Cyerce, which recovered seventeen genetically distinct lineages from 154 specimens analysed for COI, 16S and histone H3.

Etymology

Named in honour of Cynthia Trowbridge in recognition of her long career and outstanding contributions to the biology and ecology of sacoglossans.

Remarks

One of nine new Cyerce species described in the phylogenetic revision of the genus across the Pacific and Indian oceans. Illustrated as figs 9A, 11B and 12 in the original description.
