Distribution

Type locality is Tōkyō Bay, central Honshū, Japan. Recorded from Tōkyō Bay, Sagami Bay, and the Seto Inland Sea, on sandy bottoms at depths of 10–60 m (Higo et al., 1999).

Etymology

The specific epithet tokyoensis is a Latinised geographical adjective meaning "of Tokyo," referring to the type locality in Tōkyō Bay.

Remarks

Originally described by a 1950 paper in Ringiculidae and Retusidae in Japan, part of the Illustrated Catalogue of Japanese Shells edited by T. Kuroda and T. Habe.
