Description

A tiny Onchidorididae, body length up to 10 mm. Ground colour translucent white, with white fine papillae densely distributed over the body surface. A colour form with yellowish ground and papillae also exists. The outermost mantle margin matches the ground colour; just inside it runs a yellow to orange-yellow band. The tail bears the same pattern. The mid-dorsal ridge on the posterior end of the foot is a key diagnostic feature. Rhinophores and gills translucent white.

Distribution

Type locality is Japan. Subsequent records from Hong Kong and Korea / Yellow Sea.

Remarks

Originally described as Lamellidoris mitsuii, and later transferred to Diaphorodoris. Reported to feed on encrusting colonial bryozoans. Distinguished from other Diaphorodoris species by the mid-dorsal ridge on the posterior end of the foot.
