What is Mulliner's dorid?

Mulliner's dorid (Peltodoris mullineri) is a large, yellow to golden-orange dorid nudibranch of the eastern Pacific, its back speckled with fine brown blotches.

Description

A large dorid with a firm, oval body coloured yellow to golden orange and marked with fine, speckled brown blotches. The dorsum is covered with small granular tubercles.

Distribution

Eastern Pacific, from southern California, USA, south to Baja California and the Gulf of California, Mexico. The species was originally described from material from southern California and the Baja California peninsula.

Etymology

The specific epithet mullineri was given by the authors in honour of David Mulliner, a diver and underwater photographer from San Diego, California.

Remarks

A sponge feeder.
