Description
Body ground colour black, with densely set yellowish-white longitudinal lines along the dorsum. The dorsal margin, foot margin, and edge of the oral veil are bordered with orange-yellow. Rhinophores are black with orange-yellow tips. One of the larger members of Armina, reaching about 150 mm in length.Distribution
Type locality is Sagami Bay, Japan. Recorded from the western Pacific, including Japan and the Philippines.Etymology
From the Latin adjective magnus (large, great), feminine form magna, referring to the large body size relative to other members of the genus.Remarks
Members of Armina are known to feed on octocorals such as sea pens, burrowing in soft sediment by day and emerging at night to forage. In the Kii opisthobranch list of Baba & Hamatani 1952, this species was reported as Armina taeniolata (Bergh) and given the new Japanese name "Hasuera-tatejima-umiushi". It was later formally described as a distinct species, Armina magna, by Baba 1955 in his Opisthobranchia of Sagami Bay.References
