Black markings on the midline appear as either spots or lines. Rhinophores yellow. The gills are white at the base, becoming yellow on the distal half. Reaches 60 mm in length.

Etymology

Dedicated to the Filipino marine biologist Dr. Angel Alcala in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the conservation of Philippine marine biodiversity, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Remarks

Morphologically very similar to Chromodoris dianae, with which it had been confused prior to formal description. The two species are separated by molecular evidence, external morphology, colour pattern, and internal anatomy. WoRMS lists the authority as Gosliner, 2021; this database follows Gosliner, 2020.
