Description

A medium-sized arminid, dorsum mottled with yellow, violet and black and covered by rows of small pustular processes. The rhinophores are slightly clubbed and blackish, each bearing a single white spot near the apex.

Distribution

Type locality is Anjer, western Java, on the Sunda Strait, Indonesia. Records extend across the western Pacific and to South Africa.

Etymology

The specific epithet pustulosus is the Latin "covered with pustules" or "blistered" (from pustula, "blister"), in reference to the rows of dorsal pustular processes.

Remarks

The species was described in the same letter that erected the genus Dermatobranchus, alongside the type species Dermatobranchus striatus and Dermatobranchus gonatophorus. The original diagnosis characterised the species as relatively rare ("rarior").
