Description

Ground colour brown. White markings line up along the dorsal midline. Cerata white with brown markings, varying in size; some cerata are noticeably longer than the rest, a feature uncommon in Baeolidia. Rhinophores brown with whitish tips and numerous small papillae. Anterior foot margin rounded, with non-tentaculiform foot corners — a key diagnostic character of the species. Reaches 8 mm in length.

Distribution

Type locality Jesser Point, Sodwana Bay National Park, South Africa. Since the original description, known only from South Africa.

Remarks

Originally described as Berghia chaka. Transferred to Baeolidia by Carmona et al. 2014 in their major revision of the family Aeolidiidae. The Japanese name "Chaka-mino-umiushi" was proposed in the survey report on opisthobranchs of northern Amami-Oshima.
