Description

Ground colour white. The dorsum carries longitudinal white ridges that fan out slightly toward the rear, each bordered with yellow. The outer edge of the mantle and the anterior margin of the oral veil are likewise outlined in yellow. Rhinophore stalks translucent white; lamellae dark blue. Reaches 10 mm in length.

Distribution

Widespread across the Indo-West Pacific: Madagascar, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Japan. The type locality is East Africa / Zanzibar.

Etymology

The specific epithet albus (feminine alba) is the Latin for "white" and refers to the predominantly white body colour.

Remarks

Originally described as Pleuroleura alba Eliot, 1904 in "On some nudibranchs from East Africa and Zanzibar, part V" (Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond.). Pleuroleura is now treated as a synonym of Dermatobranchus.
