Description

Body flat and wide, with the rigid, depressed shape typical of Platydoris. The dorsum is covered with small caryophyllidia, each bearing a small ciliated tubercle on top. Ground colour light tan with darker tan blotches; the species is distinctive among Indo-Pacific Platydoris in lacking strong dorsal markings. Rhinophores grey-brown. Six tripinnate branchial leaves, cream and brown, comparatively small. The ventral side carries very small dark dots.

Distribution

Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

Etymology

The specific epithet inornata is from Latin inornatus ("unadorned"), in reference to the plain dorsal coloration.

Remarks

Family Discodorididae, genus Platydoris. Belongs to the Indo-Pacific clade of the genus.
