Description

Ground colour translucent white to yellowish white, with broad pale-purple markings on the dorsum. Cerata are slender and lie back along the body; the digestive gland is greyish brown and arranged in distinctly separated longitudinal rows within the cerata — the diagnostic feature for this species. A white triangular patch may run between the rhinophore bases and the bases of the oral tentacles in some specimens. Rhinophores are smooth and long, translucent brown with fine orange dots; oral tentacles are the same colour, with translucent white tips. Reaches 15 mm in length.

Distribution

Philippines (type-series specimens from the Dauin area, Negros Oriental). Recorded across the western to central Pacific.

Etymology

From the original description (Kim, Donohoo & Gosliner, 2024):
The name is derived from the Filipino word nakapila meaning, in a straight line, referring to the very distinctly separated rows of cerata.

Remarks

Described in a 2024 revision of soft-sediment Fionidae, which revised the soft-sediment Fionidae of the Indo-Pacific. Specimens previously figured as Tenellia sp. 20 are referable to this species.
