Description

A small chromodorid up to 25 mm in body length. The body colour varies from orange-red through pink to pale purple. The mantle margin is bordered by a thick milky-white band with a discontinuous reddish-purple band along its inner edge. A single milky-white median line runs along the dorsum from between the rhinophores to encircle the gills, sometimes broken or partial. The rhinophores and gills are orange-red.

Similar species include Verconia purpurea, Verconia varians, and Mexichromis pusilla, which can be confused in photographs.

Distribution

The type locality is Fiji (Marcus & Marcus 1970). The species is widely distributed across the Indian Ocean, western Pacific, and central Pacific, with records from South Africa, Réunion, Madagascar, the Red Sea, Oman, Australia, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Japan, and the Marshall Islands.
