Body ground colour white, with the outer margin of the mantle edged by a thick red band. A fine opaque white thread runs along the inner border of the red band. Rhinophores have a translucent white stalk and a black club; the gills are also tinged black. Reaches up to 30 mm in length.

Distribution

Type locality: Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka). Widely distributed across the tropical Indo-West Pacific and central Pacific, with records from the Red Sea, Madagascar, the Maldives, Australia, the Philippines, New Caledonia, Japan, Guam, and Palmyra Atoll.

Etymology

The specific epithet fidelis is Latin for "faithful" or "loyal."

Remarks

Like other chromodorids, feeds on sponges.
