Description

Ground colour translucent white with fine white speckling over the body surface. Cerata long, slender, and gently coiled, with a transparent surface through which the digestive gland is visible; tips yellowish white. Rhinophores and oral tentacles smooth, long, with the distal half yellowish white. Reaches 40 mm.

Distribution

New Caledonia (type locality: Poindimié), Mozambique, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Marshall Islands, Hawaii.

Etymology

Named after Poindimié, the town on the east coast of Grande Terre, New Caledonia, where the type material was collected.

Remarks

Originally described as Aeolidia poindimiei Risbec, 1928, and subsequently transferred to Phyllodesmium.
