Description

Ground colour translucent greyish white. The mantle is bordered with yellow and the central back is ochre. Both the dorsum and the foot bear raised yellow round spots. The mantle margin is thick and finely undulate. Rhinophores ochre with white longitudinal lines on the anterior and posterior sides — the anterior line is restricted to the lamellate clavus while the posterior line extends down the stalk. Gills with white rachides and dark indigo-blue plumes. Reaches 35 mm in length.

Western and central Pacific.

Etymology

Dedicated to Tom Smith, an American conchologist and natural-history illustrator.

Remarks

Formerly Glossodoris tomsmithi. Transferred to Ardeadoris in the molecular phylogenetic revision of Chromodorididae by a 2012 molecular revision. The Japanese name "Kingoma-iroumiushi" was proposed in the survey report on opisthobranchs of northern Amami-Oshima.
