Description

Background colour green with scattered opaque white and bright yellow spots over the body. The parapodial margin is cream. The base of the rhinophores is opaque white with several longitudinal black lines extending along the outer third of the rhinophores. The radula has the smallest teeth in the genus, with narrow cusps bearing 18-21 fine denticles.

Distribution

Marshall Islands (Enewetak and Kwajelin), Indonesia, Luzon (Philippines), and Guam.

Etymology

The specific epithet flavomaculata, derived from Latin flavus (yellow) + maculata (spotted), refers to the yellow spots that ornament the parapodia. This is the only member of the genus with numerous scattered yellow spots.

Remarks

Externally similar to Thuridilla carlsoni and Thuridilla kathae, and most closely related to Thuridilla kathae. Thuridilla flavomaculata is distinguished from these congeners by the presence of yellow body spots and by white rhinophore apices with black longitudinal lines.
