Description

Body length about 9 mm. Background colour rich green with scattered large and small opaque white spots; the larger spots form small papillae on the parapodia. The parapodial margin is cream to light yellow. A y-shaped opaque white mark on the head extends to the base of the rhinophores; behind this is an area of green and a second patch of opaque white. The tips of the rhinophores are ornamented with orange. Orange pigment is also present on the anterior margin of the foot.

Distribution

Philippines, Indonesia, Madagascar.

Etymology

The specific epithet kathae honours Dr Kathe Jensen of Denmark, who has done much to advance knowledge of the Sacoglossa and Thuridilla in particular (Jensen 1992 established the modern classification of the genus).

Remarks

Externally similar to Thuridilla carlsoni and Thuridilla flavomaculata, and most closely related to Thuridilla flavomaculata. Distinguished from Thuridilla flavomaculata by the orange-tipped rhinophores (white with black lines in Thuridilla flavomaculata) and by the absence of yellow spots on the body. The radula has narrow teeth with about 24 denticles.
