Description

A small dorid nudibranch reaching about 20 mm in length. The body is yellowish-white to pale brown, with an irregular white reticulate pattern across the dorsum. The dorsal surface has a rough, shark-skin-like texture. The rhinophores and gills are slightly darker than the body colour.

Distribution

Originally described from Japanese waters. Morphologically similar specimens have also been reported from Australia.

Etymology

The specific epithet hervei is presumed to honour a person named Hervé.

Remarks

Feeds primarily on the sponge Callyspongia confoederata (Ridley, 1884).
